Description:
Terna large, annual, up to 2 m., The ground has a thick
rhizome as sweet. The leaves are large and wide, nyirip clear green (no colored
tengguli). Large flowers with bright colors (red, yellow) are arranged in a
series of shaped bunches. Fruits such as fruit kendaga, seeds many, round.
Almost always grown as an ornamental plant, but it grows wild in the forests
and the mountains to an altitude of 1,000 above sea level. The other type,
Canna edulis To Gawl. (Canna) have smaller petals, green leaves with a ping
over tengguli tengguli. Planted as an ornamental, edible rhizomes, in Australia
as a producer of flour, known as the "arrowroot of Queensland".
